I imagine your old apartment as Rhoda’s apartment. Did it have fuchsia walls?
My favorite hidey-hole apartment was in SF. It was the first and last place I’ve lived where I could truly shut the door and forget about the rest of the world. It was like a bunker and I still think of it fondly.
