sc 226 A Conversation with QSledge!

November 20, 2011

From Washington State, Larry (aka) QSledge, joins Toppie to talk about working his “on-call” job. Larry and Toppie then go on to discuss working in the health care industry.  Toppie tells Larry one of his nightmare patient care stories. Larry explains how insurance misunderstandings, sloppy documentation by doctors, and other medical industry inefficiencies account for sky-rocketing health care costs.  Plus: Larry the wheel chair repo(er)!! Finally, what Toppie’s father did to avoid his embarrassment over using as-seen-on-TV powered scooters!

sc 69 Inflexible and Rigid.

April 30, 2010

Unbelievable story today on the Smellcast involving the medical community and their complete failure to deal with clients who have special needs.

Toppie took his father to TWO excruciatingly painful appointments today in what turned out to be a futile attempt to repair the horrible back pain Toppie’s father has been experiencing.  The outcome is a nightmare the Smellie family will never forget and is so unbelievable that even now Toppie can’t really wrap his head around it.

Episode 11: All Signs Point to Yes

January 12, 2010

Toppie talks about being near the finish of a five year plan to pay off his massive credit card and loan debt. Yes, he’s happy to announce that 2010 is his year of being debt free.  This is in no small thanks to his parents who allowed him to move back home so he could get back on track. Another great piece of news is a raise in pay at work.  It’s merely a cost of living increase for which Toppie is greatful, but aside from that, uncertainty reigns supreme as future lay-offs loom on the horizon.

Continuing on the money front, Toppie also discusses health care in America.  Does Obama’s administration have an adequate grasp of this whole affair?  Hmmm…

Also: Toppie’s failing night vision; and a fun trip to a local apple festival where Toppie got to spin wool!  Pretty cool huh?
